New Player Rough Guide

New Player Guide

So you are new to the discord league. What happens next?

First up keep an eye on the league discord channel for notices and pins.

Next you will be randomly put in a pod with seven other players and the pods are usually announced on the 1st/2nd of the month. At this point someone in the pod usually forms a discord group for pod members to discuss game arrangements. You should join this and make your normal preferred play times known.

You are permitted to change your deck construction in the pods between games but must always play the same clan - you can switch your splash as desired. You do not need to supply deck lists for the pods.

Next you should try and play a minimum of three games before the half way point - usually the 15th or 16th of the month dependant on start point  (though more is even better). This is because players who play less will be dropped at the half way point.

Games are single (so you play once not multiple times). They are not timed and will be played on Jigoku though if both players agree then you can play on whatever platform you fancy.

Once every game has completed then the winner only should report the match using the link that is pinned to the discord league channel.

Games where one person does not show should not be reported.

When reporting use the discord name for your opponent preferably with the discord id at the end i.e Matrim#3453. It is often easier to simply copy the name and if from the google group sheet.

If when arranging games you find some players are either not there at all or seem less than willing to game (this problem tends to occur more when games are being arranged cross time zone) then the player who has made more effort to arrange the game will eventually get an admin bye. If both players are regarded as having made equal efforts then the player who was more generally available will get the win. i.e one US player can play US evenings 6-10 and not weekends and a French player can play GMT-1 6-10 evenings AND weekends then the French player (in this case) would get the win. This depends on evidence and usually the chat log on discord will do to prove it either way.

Progression to the cup is dependant on record - currently a 5-2 record (minimum) and above will permit progress to the cup. Players will then be seeded in this fashion - W/L  then actual W/L (so drop wins do not count) then random. If more players progress than places exist then a play off will be held between the lower seeded players. This is just a single match to determine who moves forward to the top cut and is arranged at the convenience of the players. Keep a close eye on the pins and announcement channel to see what the exact structure will be for a specific cup.

For players who gain a 4-3 or 3-4 record an 'Amateur Cup' operates almost simultaneously with the league cup. This has the same knockout structure.

If in the amateur cup OR the league cup then you will be expected to provide a deck list for both. This is a fixed deck list so you cannot change it.

Finally you are not automatically entered for the next season and must apply again each season.

This is a general guide and any changes made in the discord league can supersede or make information listed here outdated. So if in date keep the discord league channel well read.

Good luck and if there are any problems contact an Admin.

  1. So, in the pod there is no set opponent, you just try and play the others?

Is there any effort made to group pods in some way to support availability?
